More than 400 people visited “Limelight, a Standard Flower Show,” at the June 6-7 second annual Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival.The flower show, a combined effort of five local organizations, attracted visitors from nine states and one foreign country, as well as many Georgia counties, to the old downtown courthouse. Betty Benson and Kathy Henry were co-chairs of the flower show committee.Show sponsors included the Ama-Kanasta, Skint Chestnut, Sweetwater and Town and Country garden clubs and the Douglas County Master Gardeners.“The flower show attracted more than twice as many entries as last year,” said Jeri Farmer, festival co-chair. “Some of the judges said our show is the best in the state. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
