Top horticultural award for Prince

A new variety of rose developed for the Prince of Wales was launched at the Chelsea Flower Show as the royal was awarded a top horticultural award.

The bloom called Highgrove - named after Charles' estate in Gloucestershire - will be sold to raise funds for his Prince's Charities Foundation.

The launch of the new flower came as the Queen presented her eldest son with the prestigious Victoria Medal of Honour.

It is the highest accolade that the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) can confer and only 63 horticulturists can hold the award at any one time, to commemorate the years of Queen Victoria's reign.
