Gardening - Turf Tour

K-State Research Extension Horticulture and Kansas Turfgrass Foundation will sponsor Turf Ornamentals Field Day, Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the John C. Pair Horticultural Research Center (1901 E. 95th St. S, Wichita, KS). The program is designed for all segments of the turf and ornamentals industry -- lawn care, athletic fields, golf courses, nursery, landscape, and grounds maintenance. Included on the program are research presentations, problem diagnosis, commercial exhibits, and equipment displays. There will be time to see current research, talk to the experts, and get the answers to your questions. The cost of the field day is $30 and includes lunch.


The following tour stops will be 15 minutes each.


Advances in Buffalograss - Steve Keeley
In June 2008, a cooperative buffalograss study from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was established in Olathe and Wichita along with 8 other locations across the U.S. UN-L is breeding some new varieties of buffalograss. This study includes 17 varieties of buffalograss, seven of which are commercially available. The study includes both seeded and vegetative varieties
