Maine: Tate House Museum offers more horticulture-related programming this Wednesday

Wednesday garden programs at Tate House Museum continue August 5 with Colonial Herbs: Growing old-fashioned plants for meate and medicine; a talk given by Diana George-Chapin of Heirloom Garden. Diana’s presentation including slides centers on early use of herbs for food, healing, fragrance and dyeing.

Programs continue at 1:00 PM with Preserving the Harvest: Jams, Jellies and Herbal Vinegars. This workshop conducted by Kathie Savoie of University of Maine Cooperative Extension will help you savor the flavor of summer year-round by learning basic steps of canning garden-fresh foods. There is an additional cost for supplies. Please call the museum for more information at 774-6177.
