Jammu & Kashmir: Move to get Kashmir’s Mughal gardens on World Heritage Sites list

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, India, (GK News Network): If all goes as planned, the famed Mughal gardens of Kashmir can be on the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites’ list as the Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated a move for the purpose.

Officials said the government in collaboration with the J&K Chapter of the India National Trust of Art and Cultural Heritages (INTACH) had submitted the “first set of documents and forms” for inclusion of the historic Mughal gardens, including Shalimar, Achabal, Cheshmshahi, Veerinag and Nishat in the temporary list of World Heritage Sites’ list “in a bid to increase the inflow of tourists to the Valley.” Read more>
