MUMBAI: The most number of trees were chopped illegally in the city in 2008-09 were in Malabar Hill, Pedder Road, Nepean Sea Road, according to a
report of the civic gardens department. Chembur and Andheri come second.
There were 16 police complaints against tree cutting in D ward, and 14 and 12 in Chembur and Andheri respectively. Areas such as Bandra and Khar followed with nine cases. A total 153 cases were registered and 145 police complaints lodged throughout the year.
