Burpee Presents 2012 New Flowers and Vegetables at www.Burpee.com

WARMINSTER, PA--(Marketwire - Nov 22, 2011) - Gardeners hoping to be the first to see what's new and hot for the 2012 gardening season can shop now for Burpee's new vegetables, flowers and garden-growing products online at Burpee.com.

Burpee has also launched a digital version of its 2012 Burpee catalog, so gardeners can actually "page through" the catalog in its entirety weeks before the print version arrives in mailboxes. Click here to access the digital version of Burpee's 2012 catalog.

"The November launch of our new catalog marks the earliest release of new product information in our company's 136-year history," says Burpee's chairman and CEO, George Ball.

The company hopes to satisfy the appetites of curious garden enthusiasts by offering new products earlier, continues Mr. Ball. This also makes garden planning more practical for southern gardeners who start their seeds as early as December and January.

Want to know more about what's in vogue for the 2012 gardening season? Here's a look at a selection of the more than 150 new Burpee innovations that are predicted to be instant sensations for 2012.

Burpee's BOOST Collection
Burpee's lead vegetable product expert, Chelsey Fields, says that health-conscious consumers will love Burpee's BOOST Collection, which she calls a tasty source of antioxidants. Each of the six vegetables in the collection was hand-selected for its nutrient content. Available as seeds or plants, Burpee's BOOST Collection includes the 'Cherry Punch' Hybrid Tomato, 'Power Pops' Hybrid Tomato, 'Solar Power' Hybrid Tomato, 'Sweet Heat' Hybrid Pepper, 'Gold Standard' Hybrid Cucumber and 'Healing Hands' Lettuce Salad Mix. ('Gold Standard' and 'Healing Hands' are available as seeds only.)

'Big Daddy' Hybrid Tomato
Bred from one of the greatest tomatoes of all time, 'Big Boy,' Burpee's new 'Big Daddy' Hybrid, delivers impeccable red, round, meaty fruits with enhanced disease resistance and garden performance. 'Big Daddy' flourishes on indeterminate vines. According to Mr. Ball, "it's a terrific slicer."

'First Yellow' Geranium
'First Yellow' is the one and only yellow geranium available in the U.S. marketplace, making it likely to be a customer favorite thanks to its enchantingly original yellow hue. "It's a major breakthrough in breeding," says Venelin Dimitrov, Burpee's lead expert in ornamental annuals.

'Warm Summer' Echinacea
Grace Romero, Burpee's head horticulturist, calls 'Warm Summer' Echinacea a "remarkable introduction," noting the echinacea's vibrant orange, yellow, wine red, rose and purple blooms. It's a true garden show-stopper in zones 4-9, and it's also a first-year flowering perennial.
