Even if your plant isn't 234 years old, repotting it is a serious art

Two centuries might be a bit ambitious but some pot plants can last a long time. Weeping figs will go on for ten years or more and I’ve had a Clivia that lasted for 20 years.

To get pot plants to live that long you have to be serious about repotting them. Don’t make the mistake of putting them into a much bigger pot — 10 per cent bigger is plenty or else the spare compost will go sour. Read more>
